USAid for research to best feed the future

An increase of 60% in agricultural production   will be needed to feed a world with a projected population of more than 9   billion by 2050. Currently, nearly one eighth of the world population suffers   from chronic hunger. USAid is tackling the problem of bridging the gap   between the two extremes of capacity and actual production by aligning more   with the scientific community, with the view that boosting food production for   the world will require significant research interventions.
