This post gives a real version of what to expect when in the Mathare slum of Nairobi, Kenya. The children are exposed to diseases through bad drainage, and rampant crime due to negligible security. Their parents cannot provide them with education, and the only way they do raise themselves out of this vicious circle is by getting healthcare and education from ‘institutions of faith’, like the New Mathare Assembly of God church.
