India: ICT penetration

While 70 to 80 per cent of India lives in its villages, only about 2 per cent of Indian villages have internet connectivity. This has left the rural poor unable to become economic beneficiaries of internet connectivity and its advantages. Their contact with ICT remains limited to SMS based services providing poor farmers with correct prices so as not to be exploited by middlemen.  Read more here.
