Biomass cookstoves can save Tanzania’s forests

Biomass stoves have the potential to save Tanzania’s forests, as trends have shown so far, according to Mr Bariki Kaale, an energy and environmental specialist who was among the Think Tank at the Rio+20. In Tanzania, cooking fuel availability has become a major issue (read here). So far, tree-cutting level in Tanzanian forests has reduced since families now make one trip to forests instead of three per week. Read more here.
