For the last 20 years, Avik has specialised in business strategy, business model innovations, process design, operations and impact assessment for the inclusive and environmentally sustainable growth agenda of emerging markets. He engages with leaders of Multinational Corporations, Global Institutions, Civil Society Organisations, and Social Entrepreneurs on designing innovative business models, evaluating investment opportunities and market-based interventions for “base of the pyramid” low-income population in emerging markets. He has led over 120 projects in 18 countries in Asia and Africa, and across 14 sectors.

He worked with ICI India and TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) in India. In 2005, he joined The Next Practice, the consulting firm of Professor C.K. Prahalad, which focused on incubating innovations for low-income households and entry strategies in emerging markets.

Avik has received the Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode, where he was the General Electric Fund Scholar. He was also awarded the IIM Kozhikode Gold Medal for Best All-Round Performance. He earned a bachelor’s degree with first-class honours in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University.
