Tanzania and agriculture

While some success stories from Tanzania do greet the inquisitive person ever so often, the agricultural sector in Tanzania is still underdeveloped, even as the President, Jakaya Kikwete called himself a farmer. Low productivity in comparison to even its neighbours, let alone other developed countries became an issue of importance with the President recently. Read more here. Moreover, an export ban on agricultural products is harming the country more than benefiting it, and the African government is examining alternative strategies to this export ban in order to attract more investment in the country’s agricultural sector.
