India: Course for a rural stand-in staff

The healthcare coverage for rural India is fragmented and a large number of people, especially the underserved rural poor are excluded from the class of people who have some or the other form of access to healthcare. Now, the Government of India is launching a special three year course, especially for the rural youth who have completed their school studies, wherein they will learn delivery of emergency and out-patient care for simple complaints, and effectively act as rural health workers.
