India: Why ‘Aakash 2’ is not dead

The Indian government made headlines a while back by announcing how they were going to make a tablet PC for the masses for the cost of US$35. This venture was a failure, and the depth of the failure was exacerbated by opposition parties and critics of the government. Thus when the Aakash 2 was launched, no one would accept it in India. Columnist Vivek Wadhwa introduced a few of these to his educated audience in New York to positive results, and proved that this device, given its price could indeed become a tool for world development.
