Tokyo, Japan was really a post war slum which evolved into an organized and prosperous urban structure over time. In a recent addition to Rockefeller Foundation’s Informal City Dialogues, Matias Echanove and Rahul Srivastava discuss how principles of user involvement, incremental development and integration of neighbourhoods into a large urban system has made Tokyo, an economic miracle, where slums evolved into proper housing areas.
