Mumbai is home to some of the largest slums in India. While plans to deal with informal settlements, which house about 60 per cent of the population, have gone from simple informal settlement vacating, to integrating into public infrastructure, nothing seems to be clear. Ambitious plans of providing education, healthcare, water and sanitation are ambitious goals that the administration says will be achieved through the slum rehabilitation scheme which will free up land for commercial uses as well.
