Grameen Foundation, KfW, CARE’s Access Africa Fund invest in world first completely mobile-based MFI

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Musoni Kenya is the world’s first MFI to provide financial transactions for the poor that are completely mobile phone based. Now, Grameen Foundation, KfW and CARE’s Access Africa Fund have invested in Musoni Kenya, and this inflow of cash will help Musoni grow its operations, deepen its penetration in rural areas where financial inclusion is lowest, and pave the way for it to receive a license to accept savings deposits from the Central Bank of Kenya.
