Trickle-up innovation – a solar innovation that helps the rich, and vice versa

A pair of entrepreneurs who set out to design a solar charger for electricity-starved Ugandans has unexpectedly created a product popular with American consumers. Mike Lin and Brian Warshawski developed the ReadySet charging kit give Ugandans off the grid, where most people are dependent on mobile phones for their cash transfers, an easy way to charge their mobile phones. Now, this product is gaining popularity with the US with campers. This success is going to help the ReadySet team expand its operations in the developing world as well. Read more here.
