A fund to give the poor a direct control over development spending in cities

The Urban Poor Fund International is a fund that lets the poor makes decisions about developmental spending in urban settings. It was launched in 2007 by the SDI or the Shack/Slum Dwellers International, a network of community based groups in 33 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, and has already raised more than US$17.8 million for projects in the cities.
