It is estimated that acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI) accounts for as much as 20 per cent of mortality in young children worldwide. This study examines the relationship between exposure to PM2.5 (fine particles in the ambient air 2.5 micrometres or less in size) and the occurrence of ALRI. Read the report here.
