China leads in investing in watersheds to preserve drinking water

According to a report released by Forest Trends’ Ecosystem Marketplace, China is leading in preserving freshwater. While it may be getting a lot of things wrong, given its high levels of air pollution, according to this report, called “State of Watershed Payments 2012”, China is doing well in protecting, purifying and and storing freshwater for drinking, by incentivising communities to preserve their wetlands, forests and water bodies.
