“Eye-phone” to revolutionize African optical care

A new mobile phone app which acts as a mobile visual clinic is being tested in Africa. A traditional clinic set up to test eyes for problems would cost US$100,000, but a team of doctors from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are testing this innovative smartphone solution that could revolutionize eye care in the developing world.
