How demand for biofuels make people hungrier in Gautemala

Recent laws in the US and Europe which mandate increased use of biofuel in cars have had far-flung ripple effects. In Gautemala, price of corn has doubled, and price of eggs – because the chicken must feed on corn – has tripled. Moreover, land is now scarcer than before, and farmers farm of strips of land between highways, with their malnourished and stunted children. Read more here.
