While market based approaches are heralded as the only way to progress down the path of provision of healthcare at the base of the pyramid, it often has the consequence of quality drops. This breeds the problem of quacks and unqualified people providing risky medical services to the poorer, in an attempt to cut costs. This is where a central regulatory body can rectify things.
