This post and report talk about how Bangladeshi cookstoves are even worse in terms of efficiency and polluting gases and solids production than the regular inefficient cookstoves. In view of this, Bangladesh Council for Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and Institute of Fuel Research and Development (IFRD) have developed improved cookstoves which can save up to 50-70 per cent of fuel used as against the traditional Bangladeshi stoves which use only 5-6 per cent of the biomass fuel used.
