India: Agriculture Ministry proposes custom farm machinery hiring
Indian farmers do not have the money to buy yield boosting farm machinery. They cannot loan this money either due to existent loans, and hence, must stay trapped in a circle of low productivity. Now, the Indian government in its 12th plan have suggested a scheme to provide farm machinery on hire to smallholder farmers, in areas in the country where farm labour is scarce. Read more here.
