India: Amartya Sen argues for the strengthening of the Food Security Bill

The Food Security Bill, currently under   consideration in the Parliament plans to provide food subsidies to almost 70   per cent of the nation. Various shortcomings have been pointed out by states,   critics and opposition. However, Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen applauded the   government’s recognition of the problem, yet pointed a number of fallacies of   the bill, urging the government to strengthen the bill according to these.   Read more here.
