When the recent black main grid thermal power black outs crippled the life of the main-grid connected privileged Indian, the poorer people who relied on local mini grids, solar home systems and solar lanterns barely noticed a difference. While mini-grids are no silver bullets for development in rural lives unless used strategically to achieve developmental goals (like delivery of clean water, etc.) through the use of solar energy, immense potential for the use of solar still lies untapped in India.
