India: Minister says ‘mindset needs to change’ for toilet use

Jairam Ramesh, the Indian Minister for Rural Development Drinking Water and Sanitation, says in an interview regarding the Nirmal Bharat Yatra (a national sanitation tour which involves celebrities from Bollywood and famous cricketers to steer the attention of the public towards the important sanitation issues) that adopting correct sanitation practices for the people of India, who score the highest globally when it comes to open defecation, would require an elemental ‘mindset change’.
