India: The Bharatlaxmi stove

Nandal village in Maharashtra is the beneficiary of the Bharatlaxmi stove, an invention of Indian scientist Priyadarshini Karve. She is the recipient of the 2002 Ashden Award, and is currently working with Pune-based Appropriate Rural Technologies Institute, helping institute her stove which reduces smoke by 80%, and fuel consumption by 30%.
