India: UP’s ambitious urban poor housing scheme yet to take off
The state government of Uttar Pradesh has allotted a sum of US$18.5 million or INR 1 billion for housing of the urban poor under its scheme called ‘Aasra’. Under this scheme, some 4000 houses were to be built for the urban poor in the current fiscal year. However, the scheme is yet to take off. Read more here.
