According to a WHO projection in 2006, there would be a shortfall of almost 4.3 million doctors, nurses and midwives and public health workers over the next two decades. This makes lack of medical personnel one of the biggest challenges in the world today. While many aid and developmental efforts focus on training new medical personnel, this post talks about tapping the talent reserve of the informal health workers, otherwise known as quacks.
