Microfinance supports social currencies in Brazil

Brazil has sparked off a trend of micro-currencies – currencies holding sway in a small and local geographical region, wherein entrepreneurs of that particular region exchange these currencies within themselves. These are powered by community established local microfinance institutions. These currencies are a good method of nurturing local economy through building communal bonds, and form an effective tool against poverty. Read more here.
