Mobile phones can alleviate global poverty, with some effort

It is well known that mobile money has spread the access to finance to the very poor, and the best known example is M-PESA in Kenya. However, there is a sizeable amount of evidence which suggests that despite the low costs, mobile money is unaffordable for the poorest of the poor, making for selective progression. This article takes up this issue and offers ways that the lowest income segments could also benefit from mobile money enhanced financial inclusion. Read more here.
