More and more land used for organic farming in the world

According to a new research conducted by the Worldwatch Institute, the area under cultivation using organic techniques in the world grew threefold since 1999. Some 84 countries had passed organic farming regulating bills in 2010. These organic practices are also increasingly important for the world as they reduce by about 50 per cent the usage of fossil fuels. For developing countries, mostly comprising of smallholder farmers with small plots of land where use of machinery will be restricted, using organic practices will become increasingly popular.
