New CGIAR head explains his vision for the future

The new head of CGIAR (Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research) is Frank Rijsberman, the 55-year-old Dutch national who has previously been involved with CGIAR’s International Water Management Institute and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His vision for the future firmly entrenched in the serious problems of food insecurity involves enhancing performance management at the consortium, increase public and private sector investment in agricultural research, and help smallholder farmers put more food on the table through using environmentally-sound practices.
