Pakistan: Use of Zakat for providing technical education to the poor

In Pakistan, where it is common for the underprivileged youth to fall prey to terrorist activities, providing constructive vocational training is naturally of utmost importance. Considering this, Punjab, Pakistan has decided to use Zakat for the vocational and technical education to the deprived youth. Under this plan, some 1200 students will be educated, while being eligible for soft loans as well. Read more here.
