A poor farmer from the Indian state of Bihar has left scientists and experts bewildered after producing 22.4 tonnes of rice from one hectare of land, breaking the previous world record of 19.4 tonnes of rice, set by Chinese agricultural scientist Yuan Longping, the ‘father of rice’.
