ICT was once called the silver bullet for development in the developing world. But this prediction has been proven wrong due to the harsh realities of the real world. In Indonesia, only about 9 per cent of the population has access to internet, while in sub-Saharan Africa this number goes down to even lesser. Moreover, a study of tele-centres providing internet in Africa and South Africa showed that a vast majority of them closed down due to lack of demand. So how does one get information that’s easy to publish and disseminate on the internet, and also invaluable to the development process of underserved BoP, say agriculturist population in Africa, into the hands of the same BoP population?
