The scourge of malnutrition in Africa

In the developing world, an estimated 230 million children under age five are chronically malnourished. According to GDHS (Ghana Demographic Health Survey) of 2003, 26 per cent of children in the UWR (upper west region) in Northern Ghana as underweight, over 34 per cent stunted while 11 per cent suffer acute malnutrition. The situation is no better in the rest of Africa – about 32 per cent people in sub-Saharan Africa are undernourished. Leaders call it a mismanagement of resources, and a societal irresponsibility. Read more here.
