The time has come to live as one

The recent terrorist  attack in Mumbai has left me numb. I am wondering how many meaningless death later  the terror mongers will realise the futility of these events. We can always talk about the lapses in the intelligence systems and take tactical steps like beefing up the security to prevent these incidents . By doing this shall we solve the problem fundamentally ? Do we really understand the true nature of terrorism ? What steps can we possibly take to convey the message of peace , reconciliation to the misguided terrorists ? Is fighting terror with security systems the way out to address this fundamentally? How do we connect with ” them” ? How do we remove the seeds of hatred ? How do we bring “them” back to the mainstream ? The old questions require new ways of approaching now. We need to realise one at a time that the time has come to live as one .

To quote Swami Vivekananda

“ For thousands of years ideas after ideas have marched out of India , but every word has been spoken with a blessing behind it and peace before it .We , of all nations of the world , have never been a conquering race , and that blessing is in our head , and therefore we live”

In this context it is painful to witness what India has been subjected to yesterday and in the recent past. Mumbai is a resilient city , it will spring back to action in no time as it has done before. The main purpose of striking the business hotels is to create panic among the global business community. I am sure everyone will see through this and before long it will be business as usual much to the chagrin of terror mongers.

Thank you Tom Peters for making your love for India  and your intention to come back to Mumbai soon so explicit .
