Water and sanitation progress against target of MDGs
While improving on water conditions was accelerated (we achieved the MDG for water 5 years ahead of schedule), sanitation did not enjoy the same level of progress. In the World Bank client countries, water access increased 13.4% from 73% in 1993 to 86.4% in 2010, sanitation increased by 14.3% from 42% to 56.3%. Read more here.
