Client Ambition

Our client successfully implemented a 5 year Adaptation Fund and NABARD funded project aimed at supporting climate change adaption of the small holder farmers in the drylands and semi-arid regions of West Bengal, India.  Our client wanted to disseminate the lessons learnt through a public report to offer policy recommendation inputs and practical solutions for climate change practitioners, policymakers, government, and private organizations

Our Solution

We designed and executed a lessons learned insights study to draw learnings from innovations, successful practices and potential policy recommendations to develop a Lessons Learned Public Report.

Initially, our team conducted a series of stakeholder workshops to identify the lessons learned from the program and shortlisted eight key lessons learned which together have maximized the effectiveness and impact of the climate change adaptation program.

A 2-membered research team engaged with 122 respondents throughout the insights study conducting 09 Focus Group Discussions, 04 In-depth Interviews, and 05 Semi-structured Interviews with direct beneficiaries of the program, and 12 Key Informant Interviews with project stakeholders, project team members and key Government departments. The field study was conducted in Purulia and Bankura districts of West Bengal covering 11 villages over 6 days.

Results

We developed two public reports – an 8-page brief report for a quick understanding and easy circulation for advocacy, which was supplemented by a 68-page detailed report with in-depth insights, case studies and integration of quantitative results from endline survey.
